HOW IT WORKS

WEAR FITTED CLOTHING

Form fitted clothing is required for an accurate scan. We suggest leggings or bike shorts with a singlet or crop top. NO SHAPE WEAR, PADDED BRAS OR OTHER FORM INFLUENCING ATTIRE.

3D Look Technology is compatible with Smart phones Apple and Android. A QR code on the scan page will link the images.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Participant registration will ask for name and date of birth to differentiate participants input.

FRONT AND SIDE IMAGE

A pose outline will appear on the screen, red outlines show unclear position. Align the limb until all lines are green to take an front and side image.

DATA COLLECTION

Data is collective in numeric representation by category. The information can be exported as an excel spreadsheet for analysis.

Your participation in this research is voluntary, and your privacy is a priority throughout the study.

The 3D body scanning process uses 3DLOOK® technology to generate body measurements from two smartphone images (front and side). The technology extracts anthropometric measurements only and converts them into numerical data for research purposes.

How your data is used

The information collected will be used solely for research into contemporary Australian body sizing and anthropometric characteristics. The data will contribute to understanding the size and shape of the Australian population and support future improvements in apparel sizing, product design, and related research.

What information is collected

As part of your participation, we collect:

Basic registration information (e.g. name, date of birth, age, sex and contact details where required)
Two body images (front and side) captured using the 3DLOOK mobile application
Anthropometric body measurements generated by the 3DLOOK platform
A unique participant identification number

Data security

Your information is collected through a secure, encrypted website and processed using 3DLOOK's secure cloud infrastructure. All research data is stored on secure servers with access restricted to authorised members of the research team.

Following processing, body measurements are converted into de-identified numerical data for analysis. Wherever possible, identifying information is stored separately from measurement data to protect participant confidentiality.

Confidentiality

Individual participants will never be identified in any reports, publications or presentations arising from this research. Results will be analysed and reported only in aggregated form.

Your personal information will not be shared with retailers, employers, insurers or any other third parties, except where required by law or approved by the relevant Human Research Ethics Committee.

Data retention

Research data will be retained and managed in accordance with the requirements of the approving Human Research Ethics Committee, institutional research policies, and applicable Australian privacy legislation. After the required retention period, identifiable information will be securely destroyed or permanently de-identified.

Your rights

Participation is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time before your data has been de-identified and included in the research analysis. If you choose to withdraw, any identifiable information that has not yet been incorporated into the research dataset will be deleted where practicable.
